The A.M.I. Mozart Italia Association (Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg) based in Finale Ligure, part of the branch of international associations A.M.I, in collaboration with the association "Circolo Pavia Lirica", Operadartegna opera agency – operadartegna@gmail.com and with the patronage of the Municipality of Alessandria (AL), organizes the "Città di Alessandria" International Music Competition -Edition 2023, open to pianists, chamber ensembles, solo instruments and opera singers (Ottavio Garaventa lyric prize).

The competition will be held at the Gambarina Ethnographic Museum in Alessandria, piazza della Gambarina, 1 on 17-18-19 November 2023

Pianists will be given the opportunity to try the piano 5 minutes before each single rehearsal of the competition and during lunch breaks. The hours will be for all three days from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 19:00. The detailed calendar with the times and names of the competitors will be visible on the website by 13 November 2023

The opera agency Operadartegna will be present in the opera singing section

CATEGORIES and REGISTRATION FEES

Art. 1For all competitors the competition test program is free to choose. Unpublished compositions and transcriptions may be admitted upon confirmation by the artistic direction. It is mandatory to perform by heart only for the Opera Singing section exclusively for opera arias.

Art. 2The competition is divided into 7 section and 20 categories

Section 1 - Solo pianists

Category A: from 7 to 10 years – program lasting up to 10 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 15 EURO

B category: from 11 to 14 years – program lasting up to 15 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 20 EURO

Category C: from 15 to 18 years – program lasting up to 20 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 30 EURO

Category D: from 19 to 22 years - program lasting up to 25 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 40 EURO

Category E: from 23 to 35 years - program lasting up to 30 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 50 EURO

 

Section 2 - Piano 4 hands

Category F: from 14 to 17 years - program lasting up to 15 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 30 EURO

Category G: from 18 to 22 years - program lasting up to 20 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 40 EURO

Category H: from 23 to 35 years - program lasting up to 30 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 50 EURO

If the competitors belong to two different categories, they will be included in the category resulting from the average age of the two competitors.

 

Section 3 - Solo pianists (amateur)

Category I: over 35 years - program lasting up to 20 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 40 EURO

 

Section 4 - Piano 4 hands (amateur)

Category L: over 35 years - program lasting up to 20 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 60 EURO

Section 5 – Soloists

In this section, candidates of any solo instrument (strings, winds, etc.), who propose pieces for solo instrument, can register. Pieces for instrument and orchestra with orchestral accompaniment transcribed for piano are also allowed. The pianist is at the free choice of the competitor

Category M: from 7 to 10 years - program lasting up to 10 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 15 EURO

Category N: from 11 to 14 years – program lasting up to 15 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 20 EURO

Category O: from 15 to 18 years – program lasting up to 20 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 30 EURO

Category P: from 19 to 22 years - program lasting up to 25 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 40 EURO

Category Q: from 23 to 35 years - program lasting up to 30 minutes REGISTRATION FEE: 50 EURO

Section 6 - Chamber Music (groups of duo, trio, quartet and quintet are allowed in this section) The pieces presented must be original as well as written by the composer. Transcriptions of the orchestral part reduced to piano are not allowed (for the duo with instrument and orchestral part transcribed for piano, enroll in the soloists section).

Category R: from 13 to 16 years

REGISTRATION FEES. DUO: 40 EURO. TRIO: 60 EURO. QUARTET: 80 EURO. QUINTET: 100 EURO.

Category S: from 17 to 21 years

REGISTRATION FEES. DUO: 60 EURO. TRIO: 90 EURO. QUARTET: 120 EURO. QUINTET: 150 EURO.

Category T: from 22 to 35 years

REGISTRATION FEES. DUO: 80 EURO. TRIO: 120 EURO. QUARTET: 160 EURO. QUINTET: 200 EURO.

The registration fees for chamber music are intended as a whole (for example if you register a TRIO of Cat. S you will have to pay a total of 90 euros). For registration in the category, the average age of the training participants will be considered.

Section 7 - Lyric Singing

Candidates from all vocal registers are admitted. For this section we accept registrations up to a maximum of 35 singers. Of these, 10 will be selected for the final test that will be able to obtain prize concerts, scholarships and engagements at the opera agency Aliopera.

Category U: from 18 to 35 years

3 free choice pieces in the original language accompanied on the piano (of which 2 opera arias and a Lied, or 3 opera arias)

REGISTRATION FEE: 50 EURO

Category V: over 35 years

3 free choice pieces in the original language accompanied on the piano (of which 2 opera arias and a Lied, or 3 opera arias)

REGISTRATION FEE: 50 EURO

In both categories, the program must not exceed 20 minutes

Art. 3The payment of the registration fee, which is non-refundable in the event of renunciation, must specify on the reason "NAME OF THE COMPETITOR - CATEGORY - Membership fee and contribution to the International Music Competition of the City of Alessandria, and must be made by bank transfer to: A.M.I. Art. 4Competitors can register for several sections, but only in one category of the same section.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Art. 5Competitors must send their registration by 10/11/2023 filling in the form on line present on the site www.concorsomusicaleinternazionalealessandria.it

Art. 6The Organizing Committee reserves the right to accept any applications received after the registration deadline. Incomplete applications or not accompanied by the required documents will not be considered. The registration fee will be refunded only in the event of any cancellation, even partial, of the competition.

SCORES, AWARDS, CERTIFICATES and SCHOLARSHIPS

Art. 7 Prizes will be awarded based on the registration section.

The scholarships will be delivered in cash at the end of each section listening.

ABSOLUTE PRIZES (with a score of 100/100)

Within each section there can only be one absolute winner, regardless of the category.

Section 1 - solo pianists.

in case of absolute winner of Category A, scholarship equal to 150 euro.

in case of absolute winner of Category B, scholarship equal to 200 euro.

in case of absolute winner of Category C, scholarship equal to 300 euro.

in case of absolute winner of Category D, scholarship equal to 400 euro.

in case of absolute winner of Category E, scholarship equal to 500 euro.

Section 2 - 4 hands piano.

in case of absolute winners of Category F, scholarship equal to 300 euro.

in case of absolute winners of Category G, scholarship equal to 400 euro.

in case of absolute winners of Category H, scholarship equal to 500 euro.

Section 3 - amateur pianists, Scholarship equal to 200 euro.

Section 4 - amateur pianists, , piano 4 hands, Scholarship equal to 300 euro.

Section 5 - Soloists.

in case of absolute winner of Category M, scholarship equal to 150 euro.

in case of absolute winner of Category N, scholarship equal to 200 euro.

in case of absolute winner of Category O, scholarship equal to 300 euro.

in case of absolute winner of Category P, scholarship equal to 400 euro.

in case of absolute winner of Category Q, scholarship equal to 500 euro.

Section 6 - Chamber Music

in case of overall winners of Category R.

DUO: scholarship of 200 euro; TRIO: scholarship of 300 euro; QUARTET: scholarship of 400 euro; QUINTET: scholarship of 500 euro

in case of overall winners of Category S.

DUO: scholarship of 240 euro; TRIO: scholarship of 360 euro; QUARTET: scholarship of 480 euro; QUINTET: scholarship of 600 euro

in case of overall winners of Category T.

DUO: scholarship of 280 euro; TRIO: scholarship of 420 euro; QUARTET: scholarship of 560 euro; QUINTET: scholarship of 700 euro

Section 7 - opera singing.

in case of absolute winner of category R, scholarship equal to 500 euro.

in case of absolute winner of category S, scholarship equal to 500 euro.

The jury may choose not to award absolute prizes, if the performances do not reach an adequate artistic level.

FIRST PRIZES

The first prizes will be awarded to those who will score from 97/100 to 99/100.

Section 1 - solo pianists

Category A: scholarship of 60 euro.

Category B: scholarship of 80 euro.

Category C: scholarship of 120 euro.

Category D: scholarship of 160 euro.

Category E: scholarship of 200 euro.

Section 2 - 4 hands piano

Category F: scholarship of 100 euro.

Category G: scholarship of 150 euro.

Category H: scholarship of 200 euro.

Section 3 - amateur pianists, scholarship equal to 120 euro.

Section 4 - amateur pianists 4 hands piano, scholarship equal to 180 euro.

Section 5 - soloists

Category M: scholarship of 60 euro.

Category N: scholarship of 80 euro.

Category O: scholarship of 120 euro.

Category P: scholarship of 160 euro.

Category Q: scholarship of 200 euro.

Section 6 - chamber music

Category R.

Duo: scholarship of 120 euro Trio: scholarship of 180 euro Quartet: scholarship of 240 euro Quintet: scholarship of 300 euro 

Category S.

Duo: scholarship of 180 euro Trio: scholarship of 270 euro Quartet: scholarship of 360 euro Quintet: scholarship of 450 euro

Category T.

Duo: scholarship of 240 euro Trio: scholarship of 360 euro Quartet: scholarship of 480 euro Quintet: scholarship of 600 euro

Section 7 - opera singing

Category U: scholarship of 200 euro.

Category V: scholarship of 200 euro.

SECOND PRIZES

The SECOND PLACE PRIZES will be awarded to those who will score from 93/100 to 96/100.

THIRD PRIZES

The The third prizes will be awarded to those who score from 90/100 to 92/100.

SPECIAL AWARDS and CONCERTS

At the discretion of the jury, which will also assess the appropriate artistic level, the first ones will be given the opportunity and seconds section awards piano, 4 hands piano, chamber music, opera singing and soloists, (over to the scholarship) to perform in an award concert at A.M.I. Ass. Mozart Italia – venue in Finale ligure in the 2024 summer concert season.

For the absolute first prizes of the piano sections, soloists and chamber music, a concert will be organized in Rome in the 2024 season/2025 in the review "Music, Image, Word, Prayer" at the Rector's Church of Santa Maria Immacolata all'Esquilino, organized by the Artistic Director M ° Carlo Demartini.

Among the winners of the opera singing section (1st prize and / or absolute), will be identified a singer to be included in a concert at the "Circolo Pavia Lirica" in the 2024 season.

The opera agency "Operadartegna" will be present within the opera singing jury.

All participants who do not obtain prizes will still receive a certificate of participation in the competition.
All certificates will be accompanied by the logo of the Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg and may be presented at equalized conservatories and / or musical institutes, in order to recognize the artistic score.

Art. 8The jurors may also present their own students. In this case, the juror himself will abstain from the evaluation and the candidate will be evaluated by the remaining members of the jury.

Art. 9 – Diplomas of honor will be awarded to the teacher who will have the highest number of first-placed students and to the teacher who will have the highest number of awarded students.

Art. 10Based on the current legislation on "Protection of personal data" (U.E. Regulation No. 2016/679 G.D.P.R. and Legislative Decree No. 196/03) we inform you that the data provided at the time of registration will be stored and used exclusively for the purpose of sending communications regarding the competition and that the data owner has the right to know, update, delete, correct the data, or oppose their use, in compliance with current legislation.

Art. 11Registration for the competition implies the unconditional acceptance of these regulations and any changes made by the Artistic and Organizational Direction. For anything not established by these regulations, the Competent to decide is the Artistic Director of the competition, who is entrusted with the interpretation of the regulations. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to abolish a category or section if the number of members is not considered sufficient.

Art. 12The event is not included in the category of competitions and prize operations, pursuant to art. 6 paragraph 1 of Presidential Decree 430/2001. Therefore, pursuant to Resolution no. 8/1251 of 28/10/1976, the prizes will not be subject to withholding tax.
