The A.M.I. Association Mozart Italy (Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg) based in Finale Ligure, part of the branch of the international associations A.M.I., in collaboration with A.M.I. Kyiv (Ukraine), A.M.I. Bologna and Piero Cappuccilli Foundation with the patronage of the Municipality of Alessandria (AL), organizes the International Music Competition "Città di Alessandria" Online Special Edition, open to pianists, solo instruments and opera singers (Ottavio Garaventa opera prize).

The competition had already taken place previously in the years 2015-16-17-18. The aim of the competition is to offer international visibility to participants by encouraging the study of music and to raise important stimuli also for the youngest.

The competition is open to competitors of all nationalities. In addition to scholarships, Special Prizes will be established.

In this Online Special Edition Online Special Edition the jury will evaluate the video recordings submitted by the competitors.

SECTIONS AND CATEGORIES

Art. 1 - Free choice program. Unpublished compositions and transcriptions may be allowed with the prior authorization of the artistic direction. It is mandatory to perform by heart only for the Opera Singing section.

Art. 2 - The competition is divided into 6 sections and 17 categories:

Section 1 - Solo pianists

Category A: from 7 to 10 years - performance must be within 10 minutes

Category B: from 11 to 14 years - performance must be within 15 minutes

Category C: from 15 to 18 years -performance must be within 20 minutes

Category D: from 19 to 22 years - performance must be within 25 minutes

Category E: from 23 to 35 years - performance must be within 30 minutes

 

Section 2 - Piano 4 hands

Category F: from 14 to 17 years - performance must be within 15 minutes

Category G: from 18 to 22 years -performance must be within 20 minutes

Category H: from 23 to 35 years - performance must be within 30 minutes

If the competitors belong to two different categories, they will be included in the category resulting from the average age of the two competitors.

 

Section 3 - Solo pianists (amateur)

Category I: over 35 years – performance must be within 20 minutes

 

Section 4 - Piano 4 hands (amateur)

Category L: over 35 years – performance must be within 20 minutes

Section 5 – Soloists

In this section, candidates of any solo instrument (strings, winds, etc.), who propose pieces for solo instrument, can register. Pieces for instrument and orchestra with orchestral accompaniment transcribed for piano are also allowed. The pianist is at the free choice of the competitor

Category M: from 7 to 10 years - performance must be within 10 minutes

Category N: from 11 to 14 years - performance must be within 15 minutes

Category O: from 15 to 18 years - performance must be within 20 minutes

Category P: from 19 to 22 years - performance must be within 25 minutes

Category Q: from 23 to 35 years - performance must be within 30 minutes

Section 6 – Opera Singing

All voice registers are admitted to the selection.

Category R: from 18 to 35 years: 2 free choice opera arias in the original language accompanied by the piano

Category S: over 35 years: 2 free choice opera arias in the original language accompanied by the piano

In both categories, the program must not exceed 20 minutes

Art. 3 - Competitors can register for several sections, but only in one category of a section.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Art. 4 - Competitors must send their registration within 27.12. 2021 by filling the form on the website www.concorsomusicaleinternazionalealessandria.it

Art. 5 - Characteristics of the video recording to be accepted:

- video recorded after 1 June 2021 must be made maintaining a fixed horizontal shot, with the complete figure of the candidate, clearly visible;

- any type of editing or manipulation of audio and video is prohibited, under penalty of disqualification from the Competition;

- good quality (HD) videos are required;

- for good quality audio, it is suggested a microphone or a pair of external microphones (condenser microphone, preferably) connected to the camera, or in any case specific recording tools chosen by the competitor for good audio quality;

The video must be uploaded to YouTube (www.youtube.com) indicating in the title: “Città di Alessandria International Music Competition” - “COMPETITOR'S NAME” - COMPETITION CATEGORY” and in the description “THE PROGRAM PERFORMED”.

REGISTRATION FEES

Art. 6 - The registration fee, non-refundable in case of renunciation, must specify the reason "“COMPETITOR'S NAME” - “COMPETITION CATEGORY”. Membership fee and contribution to the International Music Competition City of Alessandria must be paid by bank transfer payable to: “A.M.I. Finale ligure”

Art. 7 - Registration fees:

Section 1 - Solo pianists

Category A :10 euros

Category B: 15 euros

Category C: 25 euros

Category D: 35 euros

Category E: 45 euros

Section 2 - Piano 4 hands

Category F: 30 euros in total

Category G: 40 euros in total

Category H: 50 euros in total

Section 3 - Amateur Pianists:

Category I: 40 euros

Section 4 - Amateur Pianists: Piano 4 Hands:

Category L: 60 euros in total

Section 5 – Soloists

Section 5 – Soloists Category M: 10 euros

Category N: 15 euros

Category O: 25 euros

Category P: 35 euros

Category Q: 45 euros

Section 6 – Opera singing

Category R: 40 euros

Category S: 40 euros

Art. 8 - The Organizing Committee reserves the right to accept any questions received after the registration deadline. Applications that are incomplete or not accompanied by the required documents will not be considered. The registration fee will be refunded only in case of any cancellation, even partial, of the competition.

SCORES, AWARDS, CERTIFICATES and SCHOLARSHIPS

Art. 9 - Prizes will be decreed according to the registration section.

ABSOLUTE PRIZES

For section 1 – solo pianists, the absolute first prize will be awarded to the competitor who will report a vote of 100//100.

In this section there can only be one overall winner, regardless of the category

in case of absolute winner of Category A, a scholarship of 100 euros will be awarded.

in case of absolute winner of Category B, a scholarship of 150 euros will be awarded.

in case of absolute winner of Category C, a scholarship of 250 euros will be awarded.

in case of absolute winner of Category D, a scholarship of 350 euros will be awarded.

in case of absolute winner of Category E, a scholarship of 450 euros will be awarded.

For section 2 – piano 4 hands, the absolute first prize will be awarded to the pair of competitors who will report a vote of 100//100.

Within the section there can only be a pair of absolute winners, regardless of the category

in case of absolute winners of Category F, a scholarship of 300 euros will be awarded.

in case of absolute winners of Category G, a scholarship of 400 euros will be awarded.

in case of absolute winners of Category H, a scholarship of 500 euros will be awarded.

For section 3 – amateur pianists, the absolute first prize will be awarded to the competitor who will report a vote of 100//100, equal to 200 euros.

For section 4 – amateur pianists, , piano 4 hands, the absolute first prize will be awarded to the couple who will report a vote of 100//100, equal to 300  euro.

For section 5 –Soloists,, the absolute first prize will be awarded to the competitor who will report a vote of 100//100.

In this section there can only be one overall winner, regardless of the category

in case of absolute winner of Category M, a scholarship of 100 euros will be awarded.

in case of absolute winner of Category N, a scholarship of 150 euros will be awarded.

in case of absolute winner of Category O, a scholarship of 250 euros will be awarded.

in case of absolute winner of Category P, a scholarship of 350 euros will be awarded.

in case of absolute winner of Category Q, a scholarship of 450 euros will be awarded.

For section 6 – opera singing, the absolute first prize will be awarded to the competitor who will report a vote of 100//100.

In this section there can only be one overall winner, regardless of the category

in case of absolute winner of category R, a scholarship of 400 euros will be awarded.

in case of absolute winner of category S, a scholarship of 400 euros will be awarded.

In addition to the scholarships, to the winner of osections 1 and 2 will be offered the opportunity to perform in a prize concert at A.M.I. Ass. Mozart Italia – Finale Ligure in the 2022 summer concert season.

The jury may choose not to award absolute prizes, if the performances do not reach an adequate artistic level.

FIRST PRIZES

The first prizes will be awarded to those who will score from 97/100 to 99/100..

For section 1 – solo pianists, scholarships will be awarded:

Category A: scholarship of 50 euros.

Category B: scholarship of : scholarship of 75 euros.

Category C: scholarship of : scholarship of 125 euros.

Category D: scholarship of : scholarship of 175 euros. 

Category E: scholarship of : scholarship of 225 euros.

For Fsection 2 – piano 4 hands, scholarships will be awarded:

Category F: scholarship of 100 euros will be awarded.

Category G: scholarship of 150 euros will be awarded.

Category H: scholarship of 200 euros.

For section 3 – amateur pianists, a scholarship of 120 euros will be awarded..

For section 4 – amateur piano pianists 4 hands, a scholarship of 180 euros will be awarded..

For section 5 – soloist, a scholarship will be awarded:

Category M: scholarship of 50 euros

Category N: scholarship of 75 euros

Category O: scholarship of 125 euros.

Category P: scholarship of 175 euros

Category Q: scholarship of 225 euros.

For section 6 – opera singing, a scholarship will be awarded:

Category R: scholarship of 200 euros.

Category S: scholarship of 200 euros.

At the discretion of the jury, which will also evaluate the adequate artistic level, will be possible to give the first prizes of sections 1 and 2 (in addition to the scholarship) the opportunity to perform in a prize concert at A.M.I. Ass. Mozart Italia - seat of Finale Ligure in the summer concert season 2022.

SECOND PRIZES

The second prizes will be awarded to those who will score from 93/100 to 96/100.

The second prizes will be issued certificates of participation in the competition.

At the discretion of the jury, which will also evaluate the adequate artistic level, it will be possible to give the second prizes of sections 1 and 2 the possibility to perform in a prize concert at A.M.I. Ass. Mozart Italia - seat of Finale Ligure in the summer concert season 2022. A.M.I. Ass. Mozart Italia - seat of Finale Ligure in the summer concert season 2022.

THIRD PRIZES

The The third prizes will be awarded to those who score from 90/100 to 92/100.

SPECIAL PRIZES

Participants deemed suitable by the President of the Opera Singing Jury, in the person of the opera agent Fabrizio Mescoli, will be invited to an audition for the "Lombardo Associates" Artistic Representation Agency.

The best baritone will be awarded with a scholarship of € 150.00 and participation in a concert organized at the Piero Cappuccilli Foundation.

For the singers who will obtain the absolute prize, first and second prize, a concert will be organized at A.M.I. Bologna “Circolo Culturale Lirico Bolognese”.

For the first absolute prizes of the piano and soloist sections, a concert will be organized in the 2021/2022 season in the review "Music, Image, Word, Prayer" of the Rectorial church of Santa Maria Immacolata all'Esquilino.

The winners of the Competition of all sections, who will receive the absolute prize, first and second prize, will be interviewed by RADIO MOZART ITALIA and their videos will be included in the "Musical itineraries" section. It will be at the free choice of the competitors to declare if they will be in favor of being interviewed by R.M.I. and consequently insert the video in the “Musical itineraries” section.

All participants who do not obtain prizes will still receive a certificate of participation in the competition.
All certificates will be accompanied by the logo of the Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg and can be presented at equalized conservatories and/or musical institutes, for the purpose of recognizing the artistic score.

Art. 10 The teacher who will have the highest number of first classified students and the teacher who will have the highest number of awarded students, will be awarded with honorary diplomas.

Art. 13 The Jury, after analyzing recordings individually, will share evaluation internally in videoconference for discussion and awarding prizes.

Results of each category and the assignment of the related prizes will be announced on 20/01/2022 in the Facebook page of the Competition
and on the website
www.concorsomusicaleinternazionalealessandria.it.

To all participants will be sent the Diploma by email, with the stamp and logo of the Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg. The amount of the prize related to the scholarship will be credited to the bank account of the interested party, who will be advised to provide IBAN for the payment.
Cash prizes will be paid to the winners no later than January 31, 2022.

Art. 14 - The judgment of the Jury, made up of conservatory teachers, music operators and prominent musicians of the international music scene, will be unappealable and unquestionable. Competitors who have close relations with the jurors cannot participate.

Art. 15 - According to the current legislation on the "Protection of personal data" (EU Regulation no. 2016/679 G.D.P.R. and Legislative Decree No. 196/03) we inform you that the data provided at the time of registration will be stored and used exclusively for the purpose of sending communications regarding the competition and that the data controller has the right to know, update, cancel, rectify the data, or oppose their use, in compliance with current legislation.

Art. 16 - Registration for the competition implies the unconditional acceptance of these regulations and any changes made by the Artistic and Organizational Direction. The candidate, with the registration, authorizes the Association A.M.I. Mozart Italia - pursuant to art. 97 of the law on copyright (L. 22.04.1941 n. 663) – to make audiovisual recordings relating to their performance and to disseminate it on any platform of the Association or linked to it and to publish photographs in promotional material of the Association or to exhibit them at future events. With regard to this, the candidate will not be able to make any right or financial request towards the Association A.M.I. and relieves the same from any economic task and from any responsibility inherent in an incorrect use of audiovisual material by users of the site or third parties. For what is not established by these regulations, the Artistic Director of the competition is competent to decide, to whom the interpretation of the regulation is entrusted. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to abolish a category or section if the number of members is not considered sufficient.

Art. 17 The event does not fall within the category of competitions and prize operations, pursuant to art. 6 paragraph 1 of Presidential Decree 430/2001. Therefore, pursuant to Resolution no. 8/1251 of 28/10/1976, prizes will not be subject to withholding tax.
